A Possibility to combine three professions; lecturer – researcher – musician, in my work is a benefit. Contacts to musicians' worklife provide important substance to my work as a teacher educator.
Direct contacts to the working life gives me up-to-date information about what goes on in the field, an important aspect of worklife-based education and research.
I have been fortunate to be able to join teaching, learning and music in my research. I have over two decade’s experience as a musician and as a lecturer, which has continuously challenged me to rethink concepts of learning and teaching. By doing research my feet are kept on the ground and my attitudes are being questioned.
I’m still searching for new perspectives in professional issues. What is learning? How it is understood in vocational education? How the motivation to learn can be promoted? What is musicianship? How it can be developed in formal education?
